Ken began selling, servicing and supporting Apple Computers and related products since 1990 here in Austin. “My first computer I ever sold was a Fat Mac, (A MAC 512 with a 800k Floppy Drive). From those very first days I fell in love with macs’ ease of use.”

I always strove to be friendly, knowledgeable and honest with my customers. Back in the early days there was a joke, What is the difference between a used car salesman and a computer salesman? The used car salesman knew when he was lying. Computer salesmen would promise customers the world regarding the capability of the computers. I never did that. If I didn’t know for sure the answer I would tell the customer that I would go research the answer and get back with them. And if it meant losing a sale that was OK, because I knew I was going to be around for a long time and people would remember my honesty with them and come back to me in the future.

That philosophy seems to work because Mac Alliance has been in business for 24 years.

They used to say the difference between a car salesman and a computer salesman is that the car salesman knows when he’s lying to you – meaning that many people in high-tech sales are, um, a little unclear on the details of the product they hawk. This is not the case with Ken Gould. The guy knows his used Macintoshes, and has he got a deal for you. He sold Mike Judge’s wife a complete system and provided tech support for Vanessa Redgrave when she was in town researching a script, so he’s got the Superstar Seal of Approval as well as ours.
